While the internet has made the world become a small space to engage and interact with the outside world, it has also made people lose chivalry and respect towards creativity. From bullying to trolling, these shameful phenomena have only scaled up with time. Recently, a heart-breaking news of a 71-year-old man who chose to express his talent and showcase his creativity by creating wax statues of celebrities started doing the rounds on the internet.
Chandra Shekhar Prabhu, who hails from Ludhiana took this up as a hobby in the year 2005 after a heart surgery and to keep himself engaged. Little did he know that this unappreciated talent of his will soon become a butt of jokes on the internet by some unsympathetic netizens. He wanted to put his spare time to some good use post his surgery, as he could no longer manage his business and handed over the reins to his children.
That’s not all, unlike several other commercialised wax museums which are funded by the government, this one is run by him and whatever expenses are to be born, they all come out of his pocket. He charges a sum of Rs 100 for visitors as an entry fee which he uses for his everyday expenses. Chandra Shekhar has been doing this for 20 years and is also aware that people mock his work. In fact, he takes these trolls in his stride and agrees with them as he says that his work can't be compared to professionals since he makes statues only using the 2D photographs he has.
